INDUSTRIAL ERGONOMICS AND EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS

Engage Therapy - Rehabilitation Services in Victoria, BC

COULD YOUR WORKPLACE RUN MORE EFFICIENTLY?

Employers of industrial settings often face the challenge of retaining skilled workers. The loss of employees due to work-related injury and mental health issues is an ongoing problem.

Consequently, Worksafe BC insurance claims and premiums have also increased.

At Engage Therapy, our clinicians offer services to improve individual employee functioning within industrial settings, including comprehensive ergonomic assessments, Job Demands Analysis, and Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET).

Group educational sessions are also available and tailored to meet your company’s specific needs. Topics can include minimizing recurrent ergonomic issues, addressing common WorkSafe BC claims, reducing risk of musculoskeletal injuries, and promoting safe work practices.

OUR SERVICES

Comprehensive Ergonomic Assessment

A detailed ergonomic evaluation in industrial settings such as manufacturing, shipping, transportation, construction, and food processing. Includes in-person evaluations of a typical work day, critical job task analysis, employee wellness surveys (pre-assessment and 2 months post assessment), employee interviews and measurements.

Our clinician will complete a comprehensive analysis of all workstations involved while considering anthropometrics with available employees, any pertinent issues and provide on site adjustments/education as applicable. The report will be submitted to the employer, including all critical job demands according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC) and Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT). Assistance in sourcing products or implementing recommendations is also provided. This assessment takes 2-3 weeks to complete with follow-up visits as needed.

The needs of each company and their operations are different – please request an assessment below to discuss your needs and we will work with you to create a targeted, comprehensive ergonomic evaluation.

Job Demands Analysis

A detailed ergonomic evaluation of overall job duties, their respective tasks, physical, psychosocial, and cognitive demands. Our clinician will complete a workstation analysis while considering anthropometrics, critical job task analysis, work shift schedules, work demographics, working postures and equipment used. Data collection will include on-site observation of a typical work day, measurements and staff interviews. A report including all critical job demands according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC) and Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT), findings and recommendations such as ergonomic product purchases will be submitted to either the client or the employer as requested. Assistance in sourcing products is also provided.

This report is an integral part of a return-to-work strategy. The job demands analysis information will be used by physicians, physiotherapists, kinesiologists or other treatment staff to design an effective treatment program.

Job demands analysis information can also be used to develop pre-employment, post offer testing programs. This assessment takes 1-2 weeks to complete.

Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET)

The POET is an evaluation of whether or not you have found the right person for the right job before you have hired them on.

Working conditions may predispose a worker to a work-related illness or injury. On the other hand, some job demands may exceed some workers’ capabilities. Our clinician can work with you to design a pre-placement assessment that is right for your company.

The POET includes on-site Functional Fitness Testing. Often this requires a Job Demands Analysis: fully defining the physical, mental and environmental demands of the job. This means that workers must be assessed based on the job demands specific to their employment.

Industrial Ergonomics Education Sessions**

These sessions are delivered by our clinician and can be tailored to meet the needs of your company’s specific processes, safety committees, supervisors, and/or workers. They are designed to educate on minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal injury, safe work practices, and lifting mechanics.

**How about a lunch and learn? During this session we can provide delicious Latin American food from a local caterer based in Victoria. Upon booking inquiry please indicate if you are interested in this optional add-on.
